Selenators, there’s something big in the works. Selena Gomez has new music on the way. On Monday, August 23, the Only Murders in the Building star announced that she’d be teaming with Rema for a remix of his single “Calm Down.”
She shared the big news in a video posted to her Instagram, where she beamed about her excitement over the new collab that’s slated to drop on Friday, August 26. The video actually shared clips of Sel meeting the Nigerian singer for the very first time. “An all-new version of @heisrema ‘Calm Down’ is coming 8/26-so excited for this one,” she wrote.
Rema followed suit by posting the single’s cover art on his Instagram and captioning it, “Calm Down with @selenagomez out this Friday! I can’t wait.”
Selena’s upcoming collab with Rema marks the first time she’s released new music since her “Let Somebody Go” collaboration with Cold Play in October 2021.
Earlier this year, Selena confirmed to Deadline’s Crew Call podcast that she was heading back into the studio to create new music. “I just finished Season 4 of my cooking show [Selena + Chef], and I am in LA working on my album now,” Selena explained. While Sel didn’t confirm exactly when fans should expect new music, she did hint at hitting the road for a tour. “I am open to a tour, 1,000 percent,” she said. “But I obviously have obligations and things that I want to do, so, when the time’s right. It’s not at the top of my priority list.”
Fingers crossed, Selena’s collab with Rema is just the beginning of new music from the hit maker.
