Selena Gomez Is Staying True to Herself (and Rare Beauty)

In 2020, singer Selena Gomez made two major life shifts: a serious return to acting as Mabel Mora on Only Murders in the Building and launching the beauty-meets-mental-health brand Rare Beauty. Four years later, both commitments are still going strong, with season four of OMIB coming in October and Rare continually launching sold-out products. This morning, Gomez is revealing a new Rare product exclusively with Vogue: the True to Myself Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder.

The product’s name, like all of Rare Beauty’s offerings, has an important meaning to Gomez. “Being true to myself means being unafraid of being me,” she says. “I have grown so much over the years, and at this point in my life, I am really comfortable in my own skin.”

The star’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo actually previewed the powder last month on models at the Oscar de la Renta pre-spring 2025 fashion show. The formula gives a light blurring effect to skin while subtly mattifying, is vegan and talc-free, and comes in 14 different shades. “It’s a great multitasking powder that I can use throughout the day for touch-ups on bare skin or over makeup, and it never feels dry,” Gomez says. “It really brings out the best in my skin because it gets rid of excess oil while still letting my natural skin peek through.”

For those of us who are on the shiner side, she recommends using the powder’s sister product, the diamond-shaped Soft Touch Powder Puff, for application. “I use the Soft Touch Powder Puff when I want a little more coverage in my oily areas. It’s a precise application, so I can place it exactly where I need it.”

With this major launch now out in the world, the star shares she’s looking forward to a chill summer. “I have a little bit of time off, so I’m excited about spending some time outdoors with my friends and family,” she says. “I love a good beach day. Quality time with the ones I love is so important to me.”
