Texas native Selena Gomez is used to performing on a big stage, but nothing is a special as her the show that’s bringing her back home this Thanksgiving.
“I am beyond myself,” she said Sunday. “I am so excited!”
Following in the footsteps of Kenny Chesney, Enrique Iglesias, Destiny’s Child, and Kelly Clarkson, the actress and multi-platinum recording artist will kick off the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign on Thanksgiving Day with a live halftime performance at AT&T Stadium.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team is happy to host the 21-year-old pop star.
“We’re excited because there should be 60-to-70 million people that see her, and know that she’s helping the Salvation Army,” he said. “That’s a lot of pressure.”
“I know,” Gomez said, “don’t remind me!”
Last year, the Red Kettle Campaign collected $148 million in donations to help provide meals and shelter for families in need. Cowboys Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones Anderson believes Gomez’s enthusiastic fan base will help spark a powerful start to Red Kettle 2013.
“This is really exciting, you know, with Selena being here and being a native from Texas, it’s gonna be a great day,” Anderson said.
