These days, Selena Gomez can’t go one day without spotting her name in the headlines.
Her face graces the covers of countless magazines and the paparazzi capture her every move, but there is one thing about Miss Gomez that remains tightly under wraps…the lowdown on her upcoming album, Stars Dance!
Her first project sans The Scene is set to drop sometime this summer, but there’s no confirmed release date, official track list, or collaboration rumors.
Selena Gomez stopped by Mornings with Carson Daly to shed some light on her latest work:
“It is kind of a mystery, but I like that,” Gomez said of her record. “It’s a lot older. It’s a lot more pop, a lot more dance, kind of techno feel to it.”
The lead single, “Come & Get It,” gives fans just a taste of what to expect from the child star who’s all grown up now.
“The rest of the record kind of speeds up a little bit and this one just had a beautiful feel to it that was elegant and another way for me to step out of what I did before.
“It just is a beautiful, confident song and that’s what I wanted the video to be and everything else.”
Selena wouldn’t name any names, but revealed that much of Stars Dance addresses the ups and downs of her own personal life.
“There’s a couple of tracks on the record that speak to me about everything that I’ve gone through, just the past year, which are great things and obviously some not great things, but it’s been really fun for me to just experience growing up and doing that through music and sharing it with my fans.”
“There’s going to be some fun songs on there that describe the fun place I’m in and also certain other subjects,” she added.
It’s a difficult balance for the former Disney Channel star, who wants to be honest with her fans, but maintain a private life as well.
“It kind of gets awkward, but I genuinely love what I do and I know that writing and performing and music is an expression of everything that I’m going through and feeling, so it’s natural for people to be curious and I get that, but I genuinely am just a normal 20-year-old.”
Starting this August, Gomez embarks upon a 56-city world tour, which stops by STAPLES Center on November 6. She told Carson she actually prefers being on the road rather than inside the studio.
“Touring is the best part of what I do, so I’m thrilled to be able to perform at the STAPLES Center where I’ve seen many of my favorite artists perform and it will be my first time…I’m so nervous!”
Selena begins rehearsals in June and revealed there will be lots of costume changes.
