In her first interview since her return to the spotlight on Sunday night during the 2016 American Music Awards, Selena Gomez sat down with Elle to talk about touring, working out and being jealous of Blake Lively’s hair.
Gomez gets candid right away, admitting she is horrible when it comes to working out, but working out with trainer Amy Rosoff Davis has helped her. “I really wanted to keep it up. I wanted to be healthy; I wanted to feel good. I just wanted to make sure I was the best I could be for the show and for my fans,” she told the magazine.
Davis is currently on the road with the star, which is beneficial for making sure she’s always getting in a workout: “She’s the person who comes in when I’m like, ‘I don’t feel like it.’ She’s like, ‘No, you’re getting up and you’re working out.’”
What kind of workouts do they do together? Hikes, pilates, the usual stuff – oh, and a sweat bed. “I have a sweat bed, which looks like a burrito that I wrap myself up in, and I sweat for about 45 minutes. Just little things to kind of keep me healthy and keep me focused,” the “Kill ‘Em With Kindness” singer revealed.
Gomez also revealed her hair secrets, like how many times she actually washes it while on the road: “Well, it depends. It’s actually not necessarily great to wash it all the time because I’ve just never been that way. I feel like with my hair it gets better every day when it’s kind of a little dirty, so I’m one of those people.” She added, “I feel like I do maybe every three days I’ll kind of shower – not shower, wash my hair. I shower every day.”
While Gomez has incredible hair, she does have hair envy. And whose hair is she envious of? “Blake Lively. I’ve never met her, but I just love her hair. I think she’s got beautiful, effortless hair. I think she’s super beachy,” the singer admitted to the magazine.
McAdams, too. “I also really love, love, love Rachel McAdams, and the reason why I love her hair is because she can always change it up. If you think about it from ‘Wedding Crashers’ to ‘Mean Girls’ to ‘The Notebook’, she’s always changing her hair. It’s like short and long and beautiful. She’s kind of classy that way,” she said.
And would Gomez ever go blonde like Lively or McAdams? “No, unless it’s for a movie role. I love my hair. I definitely think it’s my staple piece. It’s something that makes me feel like me.”
