The singer – who is in the UK to promote her latest single – makes the revelation on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man
Selena Gomez used to have a bizarre crush on Barney the purple dinosaur.
The Come & Get It singer appears on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man and tells the presenter about how she fancied the man in the suit when she was younger.
Working on the Barney show when she was a child, Selena explained that at just seven years old she had the “awkward” crush.
“Do you know what was really awkward? The guy in the suit was kind of attractive.
“At that time you are young, you’re seven and you are like ‘What are these things that I’m feeling, he is so attractive’.”
But she adds of the experience: “It was great. I enjoyed it. It’s what sparked me on to doing all of this.”
The actress also speaks about her recent experience with anxiety after being verbally abused at an airport in Miami.
She said: “I was in Miami and there were just a bunch of people yelling vile things at me.
“When it comes to a lot of attention, like at the airport, it can get sort of embarrassing because I just want to go through.
“They were just being mean and I’m such a people pleaser so it hurts my feelings and I just want to explain my situation. It was fine though I got over it.”
Selena also performs her latest single Good For You on the show which is on tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.
Alan will also be joined by Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman and actors Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
